Total Cost of Ownership (TCO)
Harry Moser
Reshoring Initiative
Reshoring Initiative's, Harry Moser, will debut the newly redesigned and enhanced TCO Estimator bringing increased visibility to the complete cost of sourcing and procuring parts. Most companies make sourcing decisions based solely on purchase price or manufacturing cost, often resulting in a 25% miscalculation of actual offshoring costs. Instead, buyers can use total cost of ownership (TCO) to account for all relevant factors – logistics, overhead, balance sheet, risks, corporate strategy and other external and internal business considerations that affect true cost. Using TCO instead of price makes it clear that 20 to 30% of what is now imported can be sourced more profitably locally. TCO can also be used to sell, to help customer purchasing see the benefits of domestic sourcing.
